Ans: When a base is dissolved in water then it will produce H⁺ ions as wells as OH⁻ ions.
if H⁺ ion concentration is more than OH⁻ ion then the solution is acidic...

HCl, HNO3, C2H5OH, C6H12O6 all contain H atoms but 3 only HCI and HNO3 show acidic character. Why ?

Ans: It is because of the reason that in HCl, HNO₃ there is availability of acidic hydrogens (H⁺ ions).That is complete cations and anions formed, so that they are treated as acids....
