Ans: Following steps need to be followed while balancing a chemical equation
1. Write down your given equation.
2. Write down the number of atoms that you have on each side of the equation.
3. Balance atoms of each element on both sides of the reaction.
4. Always leave hydrogen and oxygen for last to balance.
5. Balance the hydrogen atoms lastly followed by balancing of oxygen atoms.
Given equation is un balanced:
BaCl2 + Al2(SO4)3 → BaSO4 + AlCl3
Balance the Aluminium atoms on both sides by multiplying with suitable coefficient.
BaCl+ Al2(SO4)3 → BaSO4 + 2AlCl3
Balance Chlorine atoms on both sides by multiplying with suitable coefficient.
3BaCl+ Al2(SO4)3 → BaSO4 + 2AlCl3
Balance Barium atoms on both sides by multiplying with suitable coefficient.
3BaCl+ Al2(SO4)3 → 3BaSO4 + 2AlCl3
Balanced equation:
3BaCl+ Al2(SO4)3 → 3BaSO4 + 2AlCl3
