An adverb phrase functions like an adverb to modify a verb, an adjective or another adverb. Examples Rahim always behaves in a decent manner. (modifies verb behave) The students were shouting in a loud voice. (modifies verb shout) Sana always drives with care. (modifies verb drive) He moved his study table to the corner. (modifies verb sit) My friend returned after a long time. (modifies verb return) Note:A prepositional phrase can also act as an adverb phrase. For example in above sentence “He always behaves in a decent manner”, the phrase “in a good manner” is a prepositional phrase but it acts as adverb phrase here.
