Be a Mathematics Champion in Class 10 Board Exam

Mathematics is said to be one of the highest-scoring subjects in Class 10.  However, the majority of students either don’t like the subject or are scared of it. Possibly, this happens because you need to have your concepts in place to score high in a Maths paper. Either you get a question right or entirely wrong. There is no in-between, unlike a humanities subject.

Maths develops rational and logical thinking in a student. The core part of Mathematics involves calculation and problem solving; hence conceptual clarity is extremely important. It is an illusion that just mugging up formulas will fetch you good scores. Mastering a concept in Maths is all about practice. The more you practice the clearer the concepts will be.

Scoring 99% means that you have mastered the complete syllabus. It sets you apart from others in the country and you are considered among that 1% of students who are brilliant. Do you want to be recognised as a Mathematics champion?

Read this blog to gain insights into all the important points that will help you tackle Maths and ace the board exam.

Know the Syllabus

Get an in-depth understanding of the CBSE class 10 Maths syllabus before you start preparing for the exam. It will help you make a better study plan and you can assess your strengths and weakness well.

Get Acquainted with the Exam Pattern

You must try to understand the class 10 maths question paper pattern at the beginning of the academic session. This will help you get familiar with the number of questions in each section, section-wise marks distribution and the time that needs to be allotted to each type of question. Moreover, it will help you formulate your exam strategy.

Memorise Formulas

It is advisable to make a separate notebook for all the formulas and important concepts. To stay ahead of the game, you should learn these by heart and thoroughly study the applications of the same. You might not be able to remember and recall all the formulas at once. Therefore, revising regularly will save you time during exam preparation.

Frame a Study Timetable

Always make timetables before you start studying. It will keep you on the right path and help maintain a desirable pace. Make a balanced timetable for Mathematics by allocating sufficient time for practising, memorising formulas and working on concepts that you find difficult.

Practise, Practise, Practise

Since Maths is all about practice, you should make it a point to practise questions of varying difficulty levels from all chapters. Begin with NCERT textbooks and then move on to other reference books.

Additionally, you can use shortcuts only to validate your answer. Always follow the textbook method in the examination and write a step-wise solution. You will definitely secure some marks for each step even if the final answer goes wrong. Using graphs and figures can fetch you extra marks.

Study in a Group

Studying in groups helps one discover shortcuts and tricks to solve a question. When students study in a group, they are able to teach something new to each other. Group study will help you to learn the entire topic in a detailed way. Also, these topics will last in your memory for a longer time.

Plan the Revision

Unless you revise what you have studied, you won’t be confident enough to appear for the exam. Hence, you must allocate ample time for revision and give special attention to those topics which carry more weight. The notebook that you make for formulas and important concepts will come in handy during revision.

Practise Previous Years’ Questions

This will not only help you get acquainted with various types of questions that can be asked in the exam but also give you an idea about the frequency of questions asked from a particular concept. It will help you ascertain the emphasis that is to be laid on a concept. These questions should be attempted in an exam-like environment, adhering to the time allotted to the exam.

After solving the paper, it is essential to analyse your performance and check where you need improvement. Also, keep an eye on the clock and track your question-solving speed.

Exams play a vital role in a student’s life. However, if you prepare for it in the right way, you are sure to score more than 90% marks.

Good luck with the exams. Happy studying!
