More Teacher Training for Handling Edtech Tools

According to a recent survey released by Promethean, a global leader in interactive education technologies, nearly 39 per cent of school staff haven’t received any training or adequate learning opportunities to use edtech tools in the classroom. The study that was conducted on 1000 K–12 administrators and educators in the United States reveals much about their edtech priorities and challenges.

Sixty-seven per cent of administrators are of the opinion that budgetary constraints and school priorities are obstacles to investing in teacher training resources. They identify connectivity and hardware issues as the other major reasons hindering the adoption of technology in schools and districts.

On the other hand, seventy-seven per cent of teachers opine that they are not involved in the budgetary decision-making process concerning the use of edtech tools. Looking into the future, they foresee the growing adoption of edtech solutions over the next five years. Keeping this in mind, they express a keen interest in learning about the following technologies: Cloud-based lesson delivery, Virtual learning environments, Virtual reality devices, Handheld mobile devices, 3D printers
