NEAT scheme by MHRD for tech-enabled learning

A new scheme called the National Educational Alliance for Technology (NEAT) has been announced by the Ministry of Human Resource Development to make education more learner-centric. The NEAT programme which is expected to commence from November 2019, will be implemented by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

The initiative would enable learners to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) for better learning outcomes. Through the NEAT programme, MHRD aims to bring several startups under its wing to introduce tech-enabled learning to address learner diversity.

Ease of access to learners will be ensured through the public-private partnership (PPP) model. Students from less privileged backgrounds would be provided solutions and ease of access through the NEAT portal. The Edtech companies/startups under MHRD will provide solutions and handle registrations through the portal.

An apex committee set up by MHRD will provide guidance about the scheme implementation. MHRD will disseminate information about NEAT solutions among students and teachers through awareness programmes.
