CBSE tells schools to encourage children to use POCSO e-box to report sexual harassment

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has told schools to educate both children and their parents to report sexual harassment on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) e-Box. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has started the e-box as a special initiative. It is meant to facilitate the reporting of sexual offences against children so that action can be taken using the provisions of the POCSO Act, 2012.

Schools have been advised to educate students and counsellors during regular assemblies, convey relevant information through school magazines and notice boards, in addition to parent-teacher meetings.

The steps are meant to empower and equip children against sexual harassment at the right age.
