CBSE schools to link with ITIs to impart vocational skills

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has told affiliated schools to link with ITIs or vocational training centres. The board hopes to encourage students to learn vocational skills through this move. Students will be able to increase their skill aptitude and get the required exposure through this approach.

Country-wide reach

The CBSE has issued a list of 25 model ITIs and 400 other ITIs. The list includes ITIs from 26 states across the country. The schools can approach any that they find suitable.

The ‘Group of Secretaries – 5’ suggested that the CBSE encourage vocational learning among its students.

However, the list does not include any ITIs in and around Mizoram, Sikkim, Nagaland or Manipur. Therefore, students from these states will remain at a disadvantage.
