INFINITIVE

An infinitive is formed by using the word ‘to’ before the verb in its stem word.It functions as a noun, adjective or adverb.

Examples:

  • They may function as nouns:

         Eg.  To read is good for the mind.

  •  They may function as adjectives:

          Eg.    I don’t have time to eat.
 

  •  They may function as adverbs

           Eg.     I struggle to understand.

More examples:
He was made to clean his room.
Shalini loves to talk.
