Percentages are also used for comparing quantities. Converting fractional numbers into percentage To convert a fraction into a percentage, multiply it by hundred and then place the % symbol.  e.g. $\frac{\text{4}}{\text{5}}$ = $\frac{\text{4}}{\text{5}}$ × 100 = 80% Percentages related to proper fractions are less than 100, whereas percentages related to improper fractions are more than 100. Converting decimals into percentage To convert a decimal into percentage, multiply the decimal by hundred and then place the % symbol.  e.g. 0.25        = $\frac{\text{25}}{\text{100}}$ × 100        = 25%
