Notes On Complex Sentences - CBSE Class 8 English Grammar
A complex sentence has an independent clause joined by a dependent clause/subordinate clause. Dependent clauses do not express a complete thought and can’t stand alone as sentences. A dependent clause begins with a subordinating conjunction, such as because, since, after, although, when, etc.-
  • The students are studying because they have a test tomorrow.
  • After counting of the votes is done, the results will be announced.
  • When I feel sick, I do not go to school.

Compound complex sentence contains 2 independent clauses & 1 dependent clause.
  • This game was begun thousands of years ago, and it will continue far into the future as other cats and mice revel in hide-and-seek.
  • Because I am an English teacher, some people expect me to speak perfectly, and other people expect me to write perfectly.
