Past Perfect Progressive Tense
It is used to express a continued or ongoing action that started in past and continued until sometime in past. (Remember, a time reference, such as “since 2003, for four hours etc” from which the action had started will be mentioned) For Example: Razina had been studying in this university since 2007(so it means that Razina had started his education in this university in 2005 and she studied in this university till sometime in past.) Example: He had been waiting long before the bus arrived. I had been living in Paris since 2000.He had been playing football for three hours. He had not been working in this office since 2010. It had not been raining for five days. Had she been playing hockey for two hours. Had she been watching television since 4 O’clock?
