5 fiction novels every teen will enjoy reading!

What effects do books have on teens specifically? Research says the reading habit helps children succeed in academics and improve their engagement with society.

Why teens must read

There are some direct benefits of reading too. Books give teens a peek into the world of adults. They get an idea of the situations they may have to face in the future. Some books give them much-needed empathy. Teens feel more confident in growing through life when they realise that they are not alone. Apart from this, reading habit expands imagination, increases vocabulary and improves reading and writing skills.

What teens like to read

Let’s understand what may interest the teens the most. Scholastic’s 2016 Australian Kids and Family Reading Report revealed that teens prefer to choose their literature for leisure. They are more likely to finish reading the book if they’ve picked it themselves. Revealing a little more about teen readership patterns, the report said 70% of teens would look forward to reading more if they find books they like.

Interestingly, the research further reveals insights into the reading preferences of teens. Teens love to read funny, mysterious, educative, imaginary, relatable or romantic stories.
