What is education?

The process of systematically gaining skills and knowledge through instructions and study is generally referred to as education. Those who gain or receive education are called students and those who provide instructions are called teachers.

Primary, secondary and higher secondary classes form part of school education. After completing school, students can join colleges universities or other institutes to study further. Adults who missed getting an education when they were younger can study part time to complete their studies.

As John Dewey once said, “Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.”

In the world of today, education plays the role of a vital tool for success. It can be used to overcome most of the challenges that have to be faced in life. The doors to a number of opportunities in personal and professional life open because of education and the skills and knowledge gained through it.

Education helps build and strengthen personality and to develop confidence. A student’s education determines to a great extent the kind of person they are likely to become in the future. Both the theoretical and practical aspects of education are equally important in this regard.

The benefits of education for an individual are not limited to making a living and also help them to understand things scientifically and with objectivity. They become healthy human beings who understand life and its demands better than those without access to an education.

For any country, educated citizens are an asset. Human capital is among the primary national resources, from which an entire country can benefit. For developing countries like India, education can bring about sustainable social and economic development.
