Is digital learning a game changer in the Indian education sector

Digital learning is fast becoming a game changer in schools all across India. Once it becomes the norm in schools, India will surely not lag in any student assessment programs but will lead ahead. In today’s competitive world, rote learning without in-depth understanding doesn’t work any more. For example, rote learning only works with standard questions. If the same question is re-framed from another angle or in different words, this method cannot help students comprehend questions and they will be unable to respond appropriately.

The need, therefore, is to impart knowledge into students in a manner that will help them understand concepts rather than learning things by heart. Digital learning and interactive education methods exactly do the same. These methods ensure that students get a better understanding of a subject/topic/concept rather than their mind gets stuffed with information.

Instead of the rote method, schools should combine traditional teaching with digital learning, which also includes interactivity. Digital learning uses modern gadgets like computers, something today’s generation is most comfortable with. However, all these gadgets need to be used in tandem with traditional teaching. Today’s students are keen on using new-age technology and have very alert and receptive minds. These two factors have created limitless possibilities for digital education and are bringing about a paradigm shift in the K-12 education sector.

Benefits associated with this transformation is gradually getting evident, as more and more schools have started adopting interactive classroom teaching and virtual learning systems. Even the government is taking various initiatives to promote new-age ICT-based learning not only in tier-1 cities but also in tier-II cities and rural areas. So, it is expected that digital learning soon will emerge as a game changer in our country’s education sector.
