Here are the course details:

Pedagogy for Effective Use of ICT for School Teachers

The six-week course spans from 6th April to 25th May. The teachers will be briefed on various modules including  Platform Primer, Technology & Pedagogy Primer, Introduction to Active Learning, Technology Integration in Classroom, Assessment Design for Constructive Alignment, and Summary Week.

Why is the Course Important?

There are research-based evidences which show that lecturing or mere demonstrations using Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools are not effective for student learning, especially for the ones with more advanced higher-order thinking skills. Instead, they learn effectively only when they perform carefully designed activities in class with the help of technology, get immediate feedback on their work, and when the assessment is aligned to these activities.

Goals of the Course

The course aims to

▪ facilitate the transition from teacher-centric to student-centric environments while teaching with ICT.

▪ identify relevant ICT tools to facilitate teaching and learning.

▪ design student-centric activities and aligned assessments using ICT tools.

▪ develop a collaborative community of teachers to share their experiences and best practices.

Pedagogy for Effective Use of ICT for Computer Science School Teachers

This course is a continuation of the aforementioned course. Only those candidates with an honor code in “Pedagogy for effective use of ICT for school teachers” will be eligible to join this course. The two-week course spans from 18th May to 1st June.

Goals of the Course

The course aims to

● apply techniques and technologies for teaching/learning Computer Science topics.

● facilitate the teaching of computational thinking and  adoption of relevant programming languages.

● develop a collaborative community of Computer Science teachers to share their experiences and best practices.
