National Online Examination System launched

NEW DELHI, 29th November, 2011:- The Government of India has launched the ‘National Online Examination System’ that can help educational institutions make tests transparent and hassle-free. The system was formally launched by Union Minister for Communication, Information Technology and Human Resource Development Kapil Sibal in New Delhi recently. The system has been developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), under the sponsorship of the Department of Information Technology, Government of India. It allows examinations to be conducted from multiple locations across the country over multiple slots over a longer period, and also allows candidates to elect the date, time and venue for their examination. Since it is a computerised system, the results are ready without delay. Speaking after launching the system, Mr. Sibal said that the online system would ensure a clean, fair and efficient evaluation process, which are major advantages over the conventional pen-and-paper system of examination that is time-consuming, inefficient and environment-unfriendly. According to C-DAC Director General Prof. Rajat Moona, the online examination system can be adopted by educational institutions for national-level entrance tests, and also by organisations for large recruitments.
