The impact of technology on children’s curiosity

A child’s curiosity can be described as a combination of complex thoughts and an intense desire to know more about anything and everything unknown. Today, when children are taught to learn through technologies, colorful and pictorial content makes them understand better, which, in turn, leads to an increase in their level of curiosity.

Studies have revealed that when a child is curious, there is a sharp rise in his/her desired level of knowledge with just a small rise in his/her actual knowledge. It ultimately increases the gap between the child’s desired level and actual level of knowledge.  Thanks to the internet and modern technologies, many resources are now available to satisfy children’s curiosity, thereby reducing the gap.

Curiosity, when coupled with technological education, works like a revolutionary tool, whetting children’s appetite for more information.

With technology-based education gaining prevalence around the world, children are becoming increasingly aware of their surroundings. Any information is now just a click away and therefore, students’ desire to grab more information about the outside world has increased significantly.

Digitization of education has surely resulted in engaging a large number of children’s interest in the study, which is quite impossible using the traditional teaching approach. In fact, the flashing and streaming of digital content in front of numerous eyeballs have undoubtedly increased the grasping  as well as retaining power of students.

Another important factor is that digital content is able to capture the interest of even the most disinterested child in the classroom. The child may not be interested in learning but will surely be curious to know what’s flashing in front of him/her.

Technology has made education more accessible, thereby making it possible to feed and satisfy students’ curiosity with knowledge. Technology has made educational content graphic-oriented, making study fun and taking pressure off it. It means that apart from study-related content, students can feed their curiosity by reading and browsing huge educational data available.

One should not forget the famous phrase “Curiosity is the mother of all inventions”. With our young but future generation getting curious with nearly everything in their lives, we can rest assured that the world tomorrow will unquestionably be a highly advanced and a better place to live in.
