AIIMS Exam Papers

About the AIIMS MBBS entrance examination

The All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) are a group of autonomous institutions. The Parliament of India established AIIMS and defined the objectives and functions of the group through the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences Act, 1956. AIIMS awards its own diplomas and degrees in addition to other academic distinctions. These degrees and diplomas are recognised under the Indian Medical Council Act, 1933, and are equivalent to those awarded by other universities of India.

AIIMS conducts its own entrance examination for its five-and-a-half year MBBS course. This course comprises a year of compulsory internship.

The New Delhi AIIMS used to admit 77 students to the MBBS course every year since 2008. However, since 2017, this number has increased to 100. Admissions to the medical seats at the six new AIIMS institutions (100 seats each) at Bhubaneswar, Bhopal, Raipur, Patna, Rishikesh and Jodhpur are also covered by the AIIMS MBBS entrance test.

Along with the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), AIIMS MBBS is an important national-level medical entrance examination.
